Extensive expertise in the art, culture and creative fields

TAKU’s members are educated in various fields and work in a great number of different tasks, throughout the art, culture and creative fields.

The largest member groups with a degree from polytechnic (universities of applied sciences) are, among others, cultural producers, visual artists,  and those working in jobs requiring a Bachelor of Media or Bachelor of Arts degree, and designers.

At the university side, the most common study fields for those with BA and MA degrees are e.g. cultural research, art history, art education, musicology, theater research or audiovisual media culture. Our members also include those who have obtained licentiates and doctoral degrees.

However, as education is not the only basis for choosing TAKU membership, our membership also includes a more diverse group of people on the basis of their professional identity.

Half of TAKU members works at a private sector, commonly employed by, for instance, production companies and festival organizations, as well as the different associations in the arts and culture sector or outside them.

At the public sector, TAKU members are employed mainly at government departments, municipal administration and institutions of higher education. Working as a self-employed, an entrepreneur has lately been growing among TAKU members. Indeed, many members work as freelancers in addition to their primary employment.

This variety in membership and extensive expertise is also a benefit for the members, as TAKU’s community offers partners for cooperation and a network extending through the entire cultural and creative sector.
