Dialogue on inappropriate behavior in the Finnish arts and cultural sector

On March 17th, TAKU together with Global Art Point organized an event in which the outcome was that preventing harassment and maltreatment in the arts and culture sector should be sifted up to the same level as in other branches. Otherwise, there are no preconditions for safe working processes and environments.

As long as clear definitions are not provided of what constitutes maltreatment and what does not, boundaries are hard to be asserted.
What we need:
  • Transparent guidelines and code of conducts
  • Zero tolerance for any sort of maltreatment
  • Educational models and accessible training
  • Strict legislations and mandatory contractual clauses
  • Compliance conditions for gaining public funding
  • Awareness of racial, ethnic, gender and other kinds of discrimination as a key factor in vulnerability
Reclaiming Boundaries (17th March) set out professional standpoints and a baseline for collective improvements. Thanks to speakers and the audience. Here you can download  comprehensive Reclaiming Boundaries Info Sheet created for the event.
